WHERE TO DO YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN MARYLAND

When you book a session with me, you get access to my exclusive location guide full of all of the pros and cons of each location and why I love to shoot there! Unfortunately not all of you reading this will be my photography client. And that’s okay! I'm sharing this with y’all in hopes that it helps you when it’s time to plan your engagement session!

Downtown / Town Square

Any downtown area near you where there are open streets, exposed brick, white garages (I love a solid white background!) and just city vibes in a small town. PROS: a lot of photo options in one place, great light and shadows to work with CONS: crowds, but that’s what happens in a town. we work through it!

Newtowne Neck State Park

my personal favorite location because it offers allll the landscapes and is beautiful in all four seasons. A mix of beach, tall grass, waterside views, and beautiful foliage. Golden hour is the best time to shoot here! CONS: bugs. a lot of them! Bring that bug spray anytime the temp is above 60!

Western Chesapeake Beaches

Although they are not west facing and don’t soak up the sunset, the sunrise is absolutely worth it on this side of the Chesapeake! And, if you don’t want the early wake up for sunrise, a little bit before golden hour will still provide amazing lighting (as seen in this photo). Plus, your session will get done earlier in the evening than if we were at a western facing beach. PROS: less crowds, well kept beaches CONS: this beach pictured has a $10/person fee and doesn’t allow dogs

Solomons Island

Marylanders love their coastal towns! And Solomons brings that perfectly. The bridge provides a gorgeous, Southern Maryland classic backdrop and the area has a lot of sentimental value to locals. You get a stunning sunset on the boardwalk and there are even a few gardens to take pictures in as well. I would not recommend having your session on a weekend or holiday here as the crowds are insane! This session was taken on a Friday and we managed to dodge the crowds!

Patapsco State Park

Everything about this place is perfect. Except the crowds on weekends. But it’s fine because we don’t go on weekends! Another location that is beautiful in all four seasons.
